BIO OF DAVE AND APRIL FORREST

David and April were originally from the Hamilton area of Ontario. April was a qualified nurse while David finished his pre-ministry education in Peterborough Ontario.

They have three children and a host of grandchildren. They currently reside in the village of VIneland Ontario as they attempt to lead the congregation of Twenty Valley Community Church into a season of renewal in the Spirit and growth in attendance.

David was in his teens, preparing for a career as a tradesman in the construction industry; but the Lord got his attention and David was soon pursuing a life of service for the one he loves the most, Jesus.

Early in David’s ministry journey he was a pastor in several locations, all the while mulling over a further development in his divine calling to focus on a blending of evangelism and missions. Contrary to his denomination’s recognition of a joint identity of evangelist and missionary, David embarked on a journey of faith having abandoned the pastoral role to embrace a distinct sense of “Go into all the world and preach the Gospel”. It was in the fall of 1986 that David signed documents to establish a charitable organization he named THIRD WORLD MINISTRIES.

David’s earliest season of functioning as a missionary-evangelist was in East Africa. But it was not long before he received invitations to minister on other parts of the African continent and in the following years his passport was being stamped in Asia, Europe and South America. By the time David ended up semi-retired in Vineland, he had preached in well over 30 countries.

David and April, although getting “a little long in the tooth”, are determined to serve Jesus in the midst of this loving congregation as long as God continues to direct and gives them the stamina to “preach the Word”. David insists no one calls him reverend or other authoritarian titles that he finds rather over-the-top; he is comfortable with the good folks calling him “pastor Dave”.

David’s personal moniker when not riding his precious 2014 Harley is “the story teller”. This title was used wherever he went. While some mouse about too many stories, Dave is quick to remind that Jesus was the greatest storyteller of all time. Dave feels he is in good company.

Jesus said …“you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

If we look in detail at His words, our Mission to the World or ‘ends of the earth’ begins at home or in ‘Jerusalem’ then reaches out to ‘Judea’ and again reaching out further to ‘Samaria’. So we feel very good about reaching out to our own Community first and then into our Global Community … our World.
