Jesus entered His ministry in such a unique way used the most common topics, the most
common well-known things of life to introduce spiritual dynamics. He used the simplest things.
He used things that people already knew and He used those things to conduct His ministry and
to inform them. Jesus, when He called the disciples to follow Him, I’m sorry to continue to harp
on this, but Jesus was known as a teacher. He was known as an incredible rabbi, and when He
came and He called the Twelve, they were totally, totally surprised because there’s no indication
at all that they ever had a desire, a design to be teachers, to themselves be rabbis, or to have any
leadership role. These were common people. In fact, when you look at the Twelve, you’ve got to
wonder what was He thinking, but He was about to use twelve, no names, to do such astounding
things.
